'A Royal Duty' By Paul Burrell - A Tribute to the Most Beautiful Princess

Interesting facts presented in a nice manner. I had not heard about this book, just saw the photo of Princess Diana on cover and picked it up to read, thinking it was a biography. But I enjoyed reading every moment of this book. It actually gives the reader a peep inside the Buckingham Palace, Queen's life style, Prince Charles' ways and a detailed look on the Princess' life.

I had heard about the butler as he was dragged into so many controversies, but didn't know he earlier worked for the Queen or that his wife worked for the Duke of Edinburgh. The stories he has narrated about the Queen and the palace are really nice and enchanting. You are sure to get glued to this book once you are reading the stories of the Queen herself feeding the Corgis.

I have always been fascinated by that lady. Oh, what a beauty she was and what charm but I still feel bad for her! She had a fairy tale story, a fairy tale wedding, but had to pay a very heavy price for not being a fairy and for being a human, who could feel the loneliness, pain, hurt and a lot of other emotions. She was unlucky to have married a person like the Prince, who had an affair from the days before marriage and today several years after princess' death he is married to the same lady. Lady Diana, born on 1st July 1961, was a remarkable woman, full of resolve, sense of duty and a caring person.

The book details into the life of Lady Diana, whereby also maintaining the privacy and secrecy of her affairs and men in her life post her divorce. And it is really touching to see the kind of friendship and devotion shown from Paul towards the Princess. At the same time, it is really a little difficult to digest that Princess never had any other confidante. Probably the author wants all the limelight!

The book also gives fuel to the controversy surrounding the lady's death by stating that she herself was scared about her life and felt that people were planning for a car crash to kill her and pave way for Prince's next wedding. If that is true or exaggeration, no one will ever know!

This book makes an interesting read and somehow makes you feel connected. I enjoyed reading it and towards the end, I was even asking for finer details. I always loved Diana as a child, was so mesmerized by her personality and charm; a reason enough to dislike Prince Charles for having given her a life full of promise and then snatching it all away from her. But after reading this book, I feel my feelings are much stronger! Now as I think about Lady Diana, I really hope she should have been around to see the royal wedding of Prince William to the lady of his love, only if that fateful accident had not happened!
